Project Description
Jeanne Cardana
Illustrator & Artist — Oregon City, Oregon
Jeanne captures the heart and spirit of her subjects – be it equine, domestic, or wildlife. Spanning forty years, Jeanne’s biological, wildlife, and medical illustration works have been featured in scientific and domestic publications (including National Wildlife, Mother Earth News, and Fins and Feathers) and textbooks.
Jeanne’s background in biological/scientific illustration and lifetime experience working with horses has translated into her work as an artist. Equine and wildlife art have been in the forefront of her work as she strives to capture the spirit and personality of the animals – telling a story with each piece. Over the years Jeanne has produced award winning originals and limited edition works and continues to take on private commissions. Though proficient with watercolor and acrylic, present mediums of choice are colored pencil and graphite pencil on Claire Fontaine Pastelmatte paper, Bristol Vellum paper, and archival illustration boards. Recently, Jeanne has been incorporating her love of animals and nature into the children’s book realm with her first completed animal counting book, “Stella’s Parade” and has made available giclee limited and open edition prints of some of the featured plates from the book as well as from her award winning drawings.
Jeanne is a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), Elected Artist Member of the American Artists Professional League, an Associate Member of Women Artists of the West
