Photography Artist – Scotts Mills, Oregon

An Oregon native, Michelle began her photographic journey shooting film. In high school she fell in love with the magic of the darkroom and followed that passion to Linfield University, earning a BA in Studio Art and eventually her MA in Modern Art History from Azusa Pacific University. Following the loss of her restaurant job to Covid, Michelle dedicated herself to turning her passion for photography into a business. In November 2020, Michelle D. Frantz Photography was launched. The vast majority of Michelle’s work revolves around nature as a subject, with a prominent focus on the nuances of color, texture, form, and light. Michelle is passionate about celebrating the minutia of the natural world – the things we glance past, hike over, or simply take for granted. She can often be found crawling around on the ground taking pictures of blades of grass, flowers, moss, and pinecones. She is a firm believer that beauty can be found everywhere, even in destruction; Sometimes we just need to slow down and take a moment to appreciate it.
