Project Description
Roxanne Coleman
Acrylic Artist — Milwaukie, Oregon
I have been an acrylic artist in the Portland area for 18 years. I am inspired by the diverse and magnificent landscapes in Oregon and around the world. My process begins with my own photographs of the alluring places that I have visited, camped, or hiked. In the past, I used brightly colored shapes surrounded by black to create abstract ideas of these beautiful landscapes. Recently, my paintings have evolved into “less defined” objects, with black playing a more dominant role in the initial phase. The pallet knife has helped me create a more unstructured rendition of each environment I perceive. My wish is that these paintings will awaken feelings in the viewer that are similar to those that nature itself evokes: calmness, inner peace, thankfulness, and serenity.
